Divorce
Divorce
Divorce is an indication of destruction. One should stay away from divorce and from people who promote or encourage it. One should never keep the company of people who dishonor this sacred bond.
Think about it: disagreements are a part of life. A husband and wife are meant to complete each other’s lives. God created males and females with this very purpose. You know that God has also created males and females among birds, animals, and other creatures. They would even give their lives for each other and generally stay together. Sometimes we even see them fighting, but after a short while, they come together again. We should also learn from them when we face problems in our relationships.
There can be many reasons for disagreements or divorce, such as differences in educational or intellectual levels, becoming involved with someone else for extramarital physical relationships, drug or substance abuse, poverty, illness, love marriage, property disputes, and teenage marriage or marriage at a very young age.
Parents have a very great responsibility when arranging their children’s marriages. They should consider having the couple engaged about a year before the marriage so that both can understand each other’s qualities, nature, and temperament. Remember, marriage should take place with the couple’s own understanding and consent, not because of financial pressure or influence. There should be no kind of force or condition attached to a promise.
After marriage, if disagreements arise, both partners should understand that such situations are a part of life. Even among gods and goddesses, between countries, and among saints, disagreements can occur. We are ordinary people living ordinary lives. Sometimes spending some time apart or living separately for a while can also help resolve problems. Let the difficult period pass. Something similar has happened in my own life as well. Bad times do not announce themselves before arriving.
One should consider taking counselling. Sometimes couples are able to reconcile and come together again. Often, the actual issue is not very serious, but it is made much bigger than it really is. Words such as “I am sorry” and “forgive me” can remove anger within just a few minutes.
